Alan Chartock shares his thoughts for today....
What happened?
The way I figure it is that many Americans, including Democrats, don't seem to care nearly as much about Iraq as, let's say, I do. Democrats now seem more concerned about getting rid of George Bush and about domestic issues. Had the primaries been before the Iraqi invasion, Dean would have been a shoe in. Dean's correct move now is to show that he has good ideas about the economy and domestic policy. George Bush knows this and will be spending a lot of time trying to suggest that he has turned the economy around. He will skirt the unemployment issue and the broken bank that is the US Treasury. He will emphasize the fight against terrorism. That's enough for today.
